Speeding things up a bit

Last month I noticed a huge lag in load time for the site. After much fussing and puzzling trying to figure out what I did wrong, my good friend Elise Lonsdale of lonsdale media pointed out that I had too many giant images weighing down my front page. Wish I’d asked sooner!

I’ll be combining pieces into project and theme galleries and deleting the old posts. The site will stay up but I may break a few links. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks Elise!

Interesting TED talks

Went on a little TED talks spree. I really got excited over some of the new developments in robotics. Part of being a child of the eighties I guess. First vid is for the ladies!
Why we have too few women leaders. I don’t know that I agree with everything said here, but I do like the solution presented.

Emotional robots Oh my!

And some interesting thoughts on education.
Re-engaging boys in learning.
We are makers. I wish more schools would encourage kids to learn how to make things. I think it would empower those who may not be great academically.

Lost dogs

Just a correction, Shep is not chipped

This is a post for Lola and Shep. So many of the places I email can’t open the poster I sent them so I’m putting it here to link to. Give me a call if you see these guys. We miss them.

Gourry gets pie!

I did this at Anime Evolution. It’s my first experience with copic markers. The ink was running out in the liner pen and i smudged a little but not bad.

Cattle drive

Everything hurts everywhere (especially ass and thighs) and I ate more roast beef sandwiches than any person has a right to in one day. Wow. I am deeply satisfied.

Promoting friends

I’d like to take a minute to plug the re-launch of one of my favourite comics. Onezumi.com has recently revamped their website and their comic. Its being launched under a new title, Stupid and Insane Defenders Against Chaos. The writing, which was mostly gag strips and short story arcs has changed to follow a continuing story. But there’s still a lot of silly random gags thrown in. And for long time followers, Onezumi (the artist) has slipped in some easter egg references and cameos from her earlier work. (I love robot duck.) There is no easy way to describe all the stuff that goes on in this comic but the writing speaks to me. The art is beautiful and an interesting change from her older work. if you like lovecraftian horror and geeky non sequitur humour, I think your might like this too. Go Oni!
